Joint-stock stevedoring company Klaipedos Smelte, based in Klaipeda Seaport, handles and stores containers, heavy lift and oversized cargo, frozen meat and fish products, other conventional cargoes.
Klaipedos Smelte container terminal (KSCT) was launched in July, 2006. Since the beginning of operation container volume handled by the terminal is constantly growing: 38.000 TEU in 2007 and 115.000 TEU in 2010. Today KSCT is capable to handle more than 200.000 TEU annually. The terminal already accommodates containerships of 3.000-5.500 TEU capacity.

- Servicing of containers transported by shuttle trains Viking, Mercury, Sun and TransBaltica.
- Weighing, washing, repairing of containers and other related services.

- Maximum containerships’ draught at berths and the channel – 11,50 m.
- Maximum length of containerships – 260 m. (Trial call of vessel with 275 m LOA accepted in March 1, 2011).
- Storage capacity at the area – 10.000 TEU.
- Number of plugs for reefer containers – 144.

- Mobile harbour crane Liebherr LHM 500 (104 t lifting capacity, 51 m outreach) – 1 unit.
- Mobile harbour cranes Liebherr LHM 400 (104 t lifting capacity, 47 m outreach) – 2 units.

- Terminal tractors Terberg for internal transportation – 4 units.
