The largest containership in Klaipeda port history – MSC „Krystal“
20th of January 2012 the biggest containership by capacity in the history of Klaipeda port was moored at the berths of „Klaipedos Smelte“. MSC „Krystal“ was 277,3 meters long, 40 meters wide with capacity of 5,762 TEU. Previous largest containership was MSC „Fortunate“ (274,67 meters long, 40 meters wide) with capacity of 5,551 TEU.

„Klaipedos Smelte“ faced a rapid growth of container handling during 2011. Container terminal handled record container amount of 158.458 TEU, 37,7% more than in 2010, (when 115.000 TEU were handled).

Stevedoring company Klaipedos Smelte and Baltic Willenbrock one of the leading companies in the Baltic countries by trading volume for ports, airports and public utility vehicles signed a contract on purchase of new terminal trucks, value of transaction - about 8 million Litas.

MSC "Matilde" - one of the longest ships in the port of Klaipeda
On 2011 08 16 one of the longest ships in the history of Klaipeda port was moored at berths of LKAB Klaipedos Smelte. MSC “Matilde” is 294.07 meters long, 32.25 meters wide and 4,400 TEU capacity. 1,436 containers were loaded/unloaded onto/from the ships.
